Is the oil filter replaced every time a 2025 Kia Sorento has its oil changed? The 2025 Kia Sorento's oil filter is scheduled for replacement every 6,000 miles according to the manufacturer's published maintenance schedule.

Replacing the filter with the oil removes captured debris before the filter becomes loaded. A filter that loads can open its bypass valve, allowing oil to circulate without filtration.

  • Manufacturer schedule: every 6,000 miles
  • Filter replacement is performed alongside the oil
  • Filter loading can allow unfiltered oil circulation
What is included in an oil filter replacement on a 2025 Kia Sorento? An oil filter replacement includes a filter matched to the engine's specification, a new drain plug gasket or washer where used, and a leak check after the engine runs.

The filter is selected for the engine actually fitted to the vehicle. After installation and the oil service, the filter seal is checked to help confirm the service is complete.

  • Engine-matched oil filter
  • Drain plug gasket or washer where applicable
  • Post-service check for leaks at the filter seal
What happens if the oil filter on a 2025 Kia Sorento is not replaced? If the filter is not replaced, accumulated debris can load it and cause the bypass valve to open.

A loaded filter does not stop the engine from getting oil; it stops the engine from getting filtered oil. That is why the filter is replaced with the oil rather than being stretched across two changes.

  • Debris remains captured in the older filter
  • The bypass valve may open when the filter loads
  • Oil can circulate without filtration
Does a 2025 Kia Sorento need a specific oil filter?Yes, the filter must be matched to the 2025 Kia Sorento's engine, and filters are not interchangeable across engines.

The correct filter is determined by the engine actually fitted to the vehicle and its engine requirements. A service appointment allows the filter selection to be matched to that engine without relying on a universal filter assumption.

  • Filter selection follows the installed engine
  • Filters are not interchangeable across engines
  • The filter is replaced with the engine oil
Can the oil be changed on a 2025 Kia Sorento without changing the filter? The oil can be changed separately, but the manufacturer's schedule calls for replacing the oil filter every 6,000 miles.

Replacing the filter with the oil removes debris collected during the service interval. The vehicle's maintenance schedule and service history help determine when the filter replacement is due.

  • Published interval: every 6,000 miles
  • Filter replacement removes collected debris
  • Service history helps confirm maintenance timing
