6 common questions answered

Is the oil filter replaced every time a 2024 Kia Sorento has its oil changed? The oil filter should be replaced with the oil when the service calls for an oil and filter service.

A loaded filter can open its bypass valve and allow unfiltered oil to circulate. Replacing it alongside the oil provides a clean filtration point instead of carrying a used filter into another oil change. The manufacturer's maintenance schedule and the vehicle's service history determine the appropriate service timing.

  • Filter matched to the engine
  • New gasket or washer where applicable
  • Leak check after the engine runs
What is included in an oil filter replacement on a 2024 Kia Sorento? An oil filter replacement includes a correctly matched filter, a new drain plug gasket or washer where used, and a post-service leak check.

The replacement filter is selected for the engine fitted in the SUV. After installation and operation, the filter seal is checked for leaks. This service is performed alongside the oil so the engine receives fresh lubricant and renewed filtration.

  • Engine-matched oil filter
  • Drain plug sealing component where required
  • Inspection of the filter seal after running the engine
What happens if the oil filter on a 2024 Kia Sorento is not replaced? If the filter becomes loaded, its bypass valve can allow oil to circulate without filtration.

The engine still receives oil, but it may no longer receive filtered oil. Debris carried by the oil can therefore continue circulating instead of being held by a clean filter. The manufacturer's schedule, an inspection, and the vehicle's service history help determine when replacement is appropriate.

  • Loaded filter media
  • Bypass valve opening
  • Unfiltered oil circulation
Does a 2024 Kia Sorento need a specific oil filter?Yes, the filter must be matched to the engine fitted in the 2024 Kia Sorento, and filters are not interchangeable across engines.

The correct application is determined by the installed engine and its requirements rather than by the vehicle name alone. Herb Chambers Kia of Burlington can select the appropriate filter for the engine during the service. No part number or filter specification is needed for the booking.

  • Application matched to the installed engine
  • Filters are not interchangeable across engines
  • Seal checked after the engine runs
Can the oil be changed on a 2024 Kia Sorento without changing the filter? The oil can be changed separately, but an oil and filter service replaces the filter at the same time.

Keeping a loaded filter in service can lead to bypass operation and unfiltered oil circulation. Replacing the filter with the oil renews the filtration point as well as the lubricant. The maintenance schedule, inspection findings, and service history determine what the vehicle needs at a particular visit.

  • Fresh engine oil
  • Clean filter media
  • Filter-seal leak check
